Mitsubishi PX-MiEV concept carThe Mitsubishi Concept PX-MiEV is a new-generation concept car under the theme of “The EV: its dawn and future”. This is the brand new Mitsubishi Concept PX-MiEV, a new car which will be showcased at the Tokyo Motor Show 2009.

The Mitsubishi Concept PX-MiEV new hybrid-electric system can operate in several modes including pure electro vehicle, series hybrid, parallel hybrid, charging, regenerative, and power supply mode.

The Mitsubishi Concept PX-MiEV car is powered by a 114-horsepower, 1.6-liter, 4-cylinder engine and two electric motors; one turns the front wheels, the other is for the rear. The vehicle can run in all-electric or gasoline-electric modes.

Powered by the new Mitsubishi Plug-in Hybrid System, which significantly extends the frequency an advanced hybrid vehicle is driven in electro vehicle  mode, the Mitsubishi Concept-PX MiEV returns fuel economy better than 2.0L/100km.

As with the production i-MiEV, Mitsubishi Concept PX-MiEV features a 3-way battery charging system using either a 100-volt or a 200-volt domestic supply or a high-power quick-charging station. The system also incorporates a Wireless Charging Program feature that allows the owner to start charging the battery or start the air conditioner at a preset time even when away from the vehicle.

Besides the hybrid system the concept car also brings Mitsubishi’s all-new S-AWC (Super All Wheel Control), which utilizes E-AYC (Electric-powered Active Yaw Control) that transfers torque to the rear left and right wheels.

Interior design is replete with high-tech, soft-touch materials such as seat upholstery that destroys allergens, kills bacteria, and breaks down odors and volatile organic compounds, all while offering heating and cooling features for all four passengers. Heat-reflecting windows and exterior paint and lots of insulation help regulate the interior temperature and cut energy usage by the automatic climate control system. Regarding the design, the new vehicle features an exterior design suitable for a next-generation crossover and includes LED headlamps and rear lamps, a newly-developed metal color and a new road wheel design that improves brake cooling and aerodynamic performance.

Other advanced technology on the PX-MiEV includes the new Multi-around Monitor system. Mitsubishi has strategically placed cameras around the exterior of the vehicle to give a complete panoramic view of the area around the vehicle to aid in parking.
