In the year 2009 Volkswagen group plans to launch one of its most successful car model of German auto maker, Volkswagen Beetle, in India by December. The most awaited small car model would be imported from Volkswagen group plant in Mexico.
The company official refused to say about the exact pricing of Volkswagen Beetle model but they indicated that it will be priced in the range $18,000 – $20,000 thereby placing it in luxury car segment in India.
The new style car Volkswagen Beetle will be packed with all those luxuries features that any premium category auto car offers. The the Volkswagen group will launch its compact car based on the Polo platform in 2 variants: hatchback and sedan.
The company has already launched their new VW Beetle model, a 2.5L, 5-cylinder engine with up a 150 horse power in the European market.
Beetle, which traces its history to 1945, is one of the most successful models that Volkswagen has produced.
In the meantime, a news Volkswagen Polo and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X are to be launched in Indian auto market in the by the first half of the next year. Volkswagen group also present itself with VW Passat, VW Tourage and NW Jetta in Indian market at present.
The Volkswagen group is going to achieve the full-capacity production by 2012. In the next six years, the group is aiming to grab the part from 8 to 10 % of the Indian passenger cars market share.
